Ask and it will be given!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
(Matthew 7:7-11 ESV)One thing I have learned is to not be afraid to ask God for things. He will listen and help. However, not always in the way we want Him to. He does what is best for us even though we may not understand. He always answers with one of the three answers: yes, no, or wait. Those answers I still have trouble understanding. I ask for a lot of things... and well maybe I am to anxious to get the answer. So: “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
(Psalm 46:10 ESV)
Be still! And listen and trust Him!
Ask and find your answer! That's what I have been doing...especially this week.
Have a Blessed week!
God is Love.

Giving thanks!

This past week was a hard week to face for many in my high school. This boy I have known since 7th grade passed on Friday. He had been battling brain cancer for several years and I watched this boy struggle through it. But the thing is I never saw him truly struggle! He always looked so happy always seemed to be able to find happiness and the good in all things. This young man was smart also, in advanced courses and all! But he lived his life to the fullest. Most of us take advantage of the life we have: good health, our family, friends, our home and clothes, etc. Earlier this month a students house burnt down another sad event that occurred. However, it seems like these events didn't touch some. Why don't we live life to the fullest? But most of all why aren't we thankful for what we have? Most of the time it seems we don't appreciate what we have until what we have is gone, till it is too late. And why just think about the things we are thankful on or around Thanksgiving? Why not everyday? God has blessed us with wonderful gifts! Thank him for giving you such wonderful things!
1 Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever! (Psalm 106:1)
Thank the Lord for the wonderful things he provides for you. Because no matter how bad things get God is still God and God is Good! He loves you no matter what! Thank Him for loving you! And because He loves you he provides things for you! So everyday we should be giving thanks for what we do have. Yes, there are things that we don't have that we want... But have you ever said thanks for the things he has provided you with? That is one thing I even have to do better at. God is love!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Plans Up Ahead!

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
(Jeremiah 29:11-14)
One thing stressful to any high school Junior is college. We grow up preparing for it always trying to be perfect to get there. And now that it is here I am stressed. I keep asking myself where I am going next? What else do I do? How do I just leave, how does someone just leave the nest? These are questions I used to think I knew and I still do know. But now that I am preparing my final year and a half or so with my family and in high school I tend to get stressed. I thought I always knew what University I was going to apply for, where I wanted to go. But the question I left out was... What plan does God have for me? He already has a plan and here I have been almost changing it. So do I think I know where I am going? Yes. But I want to go there trusting the Lord to guide me. So trust the Lord. I know that can be scary but He has a plan! He has a plan far greater than we know! Pray to Him and He will listen to you. He will protect you. Don't be afraid of your future, it will be great, we all have an important purpose we just have to wait and see what it is! God is love.

Beauty

Today, I am going to start out by giving you a few verses to think about.

"9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works." ( 1 Timothy 2:9-10)

"3 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious." ( 1 Peter 3:3-4)

When you read these I hope you thought of yourself. As women of God how do we represent ourselves? Do people even recognize that we have a relationship with God? Now yes these can be looked at as oh, but that is in reference to marriage or others. However, " For the Maker is your husband the Lord of hosts is his name..." (Isaiah 54:5)  So with that said why represent ourselves immodest? We represent Him people should look and think why is she so different? When we cover up ourselves in fancy clothes and make-up we hide who God made us to be. When we wear inappropriate clothes we make ourselves look impure, even if we are not. Ladies, we get it all wrong! We are all beautiful! With our good works and godliness and big heart we are beautiful! People recognize this beauty! We are all beautiful inside and out but when we dress out of control and cake on make up we hide that beauty we hide the most unique things about ourselves.  And remember, "7 You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you." (Song of Solomon 4:7) I walk around a high school and see the generation I live in hide their
beauty like there is something to be ashamed of. We shouldn't be ashamed to be God's child. I hope that women can realize how beautiful they really are.
God is Love.

Love!

Now before you start putting the wrong ideas in your mind ponder this verse Song of Solomon 2:7 "I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases." This verse is mentioned not once but a few times in the Bible... Which means it is important. I feel that with our generations we tend to forget that God has a plan for us. Women tend to be very impatient when it comes to love but why are we in such a rush? God has someone for us! And no wonder we have bad luck! We are pushing something that isn't ready! I know a beautiful woman who got married through a courtship... She WAITED she was PATIENT... And I have to say she looked like the happiest girl in the whole wide world! That Bride was in it for God. Not for herself but for God! I was given the best advice through that time "Don't settle, what you see is what you get." You look around and see many divorces. My thought is could we have been smarter. I watch many people going through courtships and honestly they seem happier than a lot who don't. Now I am not saying that those who didn't go through courtships aren't happy! Also this verse could say other things.... like about purity! I don't want to tell you all that it could be about. But think about it! It is a great verse and makes you think! God is love!

To Love others the way God loves us!

I am one that is commonly misunderstood. People tend to over read things and judge me harshly based on things that are said by others. And that is common with all people especially while going through high school. And I was once again misunderstood like many times before and the first thoughts that came to mind were negative. Not purposely, it was just natural instinct. I started to think of every reason why I dislike that person... Well that's just not right. I have no right to judge them that isn't my job and I have some of the same qualities that I disliked about them. So here is what I did, and I highly recommend this to anyone who is walking with God. On a paper I made two columns one that said dislikes where I wrote all the things I disliked about that person.  The other side I wrote likes and for every dislike I had I wrote a quality that I liked. Sounds easy? Well it's actually not when all you can think about is the negatives. So next I wrote every quality that I disliked that I also had... which is hard to admit but it's there. One was immature... sadly I can be immature sometimes. I wrote a list of how I can change those qualities about myself. Then I wrote a prayer to God asking for the strength and courage to fix those things and I prayed that He helps the people who give me a hard time because they may be struggling somewhere in life or they just need to know Him. Like the Serenity Prayer begins: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference ~ Reinhold Niebuhr.  And finally my main goal is to love others the way God loves us, the way I love God. His love is unconditional and that is how ours should be." Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7-8. God is love.
